It is the oldest city in Germany - founded around 16 BC. It also served as the capital of the Roman Empire at one time and still boasts several ruins from the period. The antiquity and beauty and history of Europe all hit us squarely in the face.
Oh, yeah, and I learned to bring a heck of a lot more juice and snack food than one deems reasonable for a trip with a 3 and 0 year old. All in all they held up alright, but our maiden voyage taught us quite a bit about how to travel successfully in Europe with young ones.

Trier looks like a gorgeous city with as much charm in outside markets as in its Roman ruins. I am so glad to hear that the Subaru finally arrived and just in time for a 4-day weekend. It is always a joy to get a glimpse of the Loefferts out and about together.
Viv and Seth are both getting so darn big. No wonder they are in need of good amounts of snack food and juice. What, no soft pretzels sold in Trier?
I want a big metal door like that on our log home in Idaho....and little munchkins just like those to pop out of it.
